Si Tai Gung Sammy Wong began passing down his Chuka SPM to Sigung Tony Blum in 1984. Since that time Sigung Blum has worked to continue his legacy. He primarily teaches small groups but is available for seminars.
Ed Young was introduced to ChuKa Southern Praying Mantis in the spring of 1996 via a friend who was training the system at that time. Ed has been training this Kung Fu on and off over the years under the guidance of Sigung Tony Blum, and Si-Hing Eddie Chin, also getting a chance to meet the late Si Tai Gung Sammy Wong himself for a brief period of time. Ed continues to train under Sigung Blum to this day, and hopes to continue teaching and promoting ChuKa Southern Praying Mantis for many years to come.
Joel Gunderson began his martial arts training at a young age with different arts. Through various connections Joel became aware of a group that was training behind closed doors right under his nose. Joel was invited through a family friend to train with them. He trained Chuka Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu for eight years before reaching Instructor level. This was a great honor.
Joel has now been training Chuka SPM for over 12 years and has gone on to develope his own system, Ghost Hands Kung Fu, using the Chuka SPM as the root of the system. Joel keeps his mind open and continues his training in Chuka Southern Mantis as well as other martial arts. He has been teaching and running seminars for all ages in different locations and enjoys watching the students grow as he guides them on this life changing journey.
Tony Blum III was introduced to the Chuka system at the age of 8 years old. He would train and work the training apparatuses after Sigung Blum held class and Si Tai Gung Wong would work on techniques with him when Sigung Blum would visit Si Tai Gung Wong's home. He had started his formal training at the age of 15, where he worked Sam Bo Gin and Tong Long Ma for 2 years. He officially joined the Chuka group at age 17 working with Sigung Blum & Si-Hing Chin and his fellow Instructor's and students. He is also the Senior weapons Instructor of the Chuka system under his father Sigung Blum. Tony continues to train under Sigung Blum to this day, and hopes to continue teaching and promoting ChuKa Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu for many years to come.
